Professional development opportunities for Stonnington creatives
Are you an artist, writer, staff or board member, volunteer, arts worker, filmmaker, designer, art consultant, musician, or performer?
From August 2017 to March 2018, a series of free professional development workshops are available for Stonnington makers, producers and creatives.
Workshops will be delivered by professional creative business experts to support businesses, organisations and individuals to develop skills, gain new perspectives and make their organisations stronger.
Sessions are free and will take place in cultural venues around Stonnington, register to attend below.
A fast fun and practical look at the ten most essential things that a creative needs to think about when setting up or running a business based on their craft. Goal setting, business planning, time management, money, marketing and more – in this action-packed presentation participants learn some practical tips to help with the reality of running an arts business from an expert with over 25 years of experience in the creative industries. Lots of creative people struggle in self-employment because money is a constant battle. Creative practitioners sometimes just need the basics of financial literacy explained in a way that makes sense. This is that workshop! Marketing is one of the most despised and least understood aspects of running a creative business and being an arts entrepreneur. Grants are often held up as the holy grail of a successful arts career, until you realise how much extra work is involved. This fun and practical workshop covers the basics managing a grant and winning in the first place. Participants learn how to sing their own grant song, and prepare for success. Where: Sagra Restaurant and Gallery, 256 Glenferrie Rd, Malvern
Creating and producing means creating copyright. Let us walk you through owning and using your copyright, knowing your moral rights as well as creating copyright with other people. This session uses practical examples, case studies from artists’, producers’ and makers’ experiences and hypothetical scenarios to help make copyright accessible and, dare we say, fun for creatives. This session is relevant to all creatives and artists across all art forms. Delivered by the Arts Law Centre Australia.
