2016 Citizen of the Year Awards
The City of Stonnington would like to congratulate this year's winners of the Stonnington Citizen of the Year Awards.
The awards were presented to recipients by the City of Stonnington Mayor, at the gala event, which featured a traditional Welcome to Country and the Stonnington City Brass band.
The 2016 City of Stonnington Citizen of the Year Award winners are:
- Arts, Culture and Education: Judith Durham
- Sport: Jan Gnatt
- Community Service: James (Jim) Hallam
- Community Group: Knitters of the Round Table (Jessica McLean)
- Mayor’s Special Service Award: John Hood
- Young Citizen of the Year Award: Robert Collis
Each year the City of Stonnington encourages the community to nominate someone they know who is deserving of a Citizen of the Year award. Nominees are judged by a selection panel, which includes previous Citizen of the Year recipients, Stonnington Councillors and the Mayor.
The event aligns with one of Council’s strategic objectives that Stonnington be a City where all people can be happy, healthy, safe, feel part of and contribute to the community.
