Citizenship Ceremonies

The City of Stonnington holds Citizenship Ceremonies throughout the year, welcoming residents to Australia and into the Stonnington municipality.

If you are considering applying for citizenship, forms are available from your local Post Office. If you wish to make an appointment to lodge your application visit the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website, office or call their Hotline on 131 880.

Next Citizenship Ceremony

The 23 November 2017 City of Stonnington Citizenship Ceremony has been cancelled. 

Stonnington's next ceremony will be held on Friday, 26 January 2018 at 10.30am. The venue is the Stonnington City Centre at the corner of Glenferrie Road and High Street, Malvern (also known as Malvern Town Hall).

Candidates will be advised in writing by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection of their ceremony date.  In addition, Council will send a letter to all candidates prior to each ceremony enclosing useful information regarding the ceremony.

What you need to know about the ceremony

All candidates are requested to:

  • doors will open at 9.15am and registration is open from 9.15am to 10.00am
  • provide photo ID - for example, passport, drivers licence
  • be seated by 10.15am in the seat allocated to you during the registration process for 10.30am sharp ceremony commencement.

Guests are not able to be seated with candidates however there is ample seating provided in the Hall. All candidates and guests must be seated by 10.15am. 

The Citizenship ceremony is followed by light refreshments for new citizens and their guest/s who wish to stay.
