Cr John Chandler OAM
What is your plan or mission for Council?
As always, I will endeavour to be part of a Council where I can work collaboratively with integrity and intelligence to make a difference.
I bring my experience as a long-term Councillor, knowledge of planning legislation and achievements in opposing inappropriate development to this newly-elected Council.
I will continue to protect Stonnington against overdevelopment, proactively pursue planning scheme amendments to expand our heritage protection, work to maintain Council’s strong financial position, and proactively pursue additional environmental and sustainability initiatives regarding energy efficiency, biodiversity, plastics pollution, water conservation and recycling.
What do you love about Stonnington?
I enjoy our City's cultural vibrancy where everything is on our doorstep and the diversity in the heritage character of our built environment. We have a lot of great residential areas and tree lined streets that add to the character of Stonnington.
The City of Stonnington acknowledges that we are on the traditional land of the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri people and offer our respects to the elders past and present. We recognise and respect the cultural heritage of this land.
