Mayor Cr Jami Klisaris
What is your plan or vision for Council?
Stonnington has a high level of amenity. I will strongly advocate and help to protect against development that is inappropriate. We are lucky to have such well-maintained parks, gardens and heritage buildings that distinguish our City from others, though I fear Stonnington is changing considerably due to intense overdevelopment.
I am supportive and will pursue large capital works projects as they will be crucial for our residents’ future.
These include the redevelopment of Cato Street car park and upgrades to aquatic centres, sporting facilities and libraries. Change is inevitable, but I don’t wish for Stonnington to lose its unique identity along the way. I have a great sense of optimism about what we can deliver as a collaborative Council.
What do you love about Stonnington?
Stonnington is a family-friendly local Council with established child and maternal health centres, libraries and community centres. We offer something for everyone who lives here, works in or visits our great City.
The City of Stonnington acknowledges that we are on the traditional land of the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri people and offer our respects to the elders past and present. We recognise and respect the cultural heritage of this land.
