Trades Persons Parking Permits

Trades persons parking permits are short-term registration-based permits that allow:

  • a trades person to park in a designated commercial zone without the need to comply with the relevant time restrictions close to the property being serviced (up to 1 month only)
  • a trades person to park in a designated residential zone without the need to comply with the relevant time restrictions close to the property being serviced (up to 1 month only)

Apply for a trades persons vehicle occupation permit (commercial areas)

A trades persons vehicle occupation permit is available for builders in commercial streets that do not require a full works zone but are inconvenienced by the parking restrictions limits signposted.

The applicant must include:

  • a fully completed application form and payment
  • details of the requested parking spaces (a site plan may be required).

Apply for a trades persons parking permit (residential areas)

A residential trades persons permit can only be issued for a residential property and are not available for commercial or retail properties. They are intended for works of a minor nature in residential properties.

The permits allow short-term parking and are issued for up to four weeks only, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Limits apply to the number of permits that can be issued per residence.

The applicant must include:

  • a fully completed application form and applicable fee
  • proof of residency, if you do not already have a residents parking permit
  • if the application is made by a trades person, a letter from the resident confirming that the trades person will be carrying out works at the property.

Trades persons parking permit applications will be approved within the following time frames:

  • 3 business days — trades persons vehicle occupation permit
  • upon payment at Council’s Service Centre — tradesperson residential permit.
