Assessment of three alternative sites – 5 September 2017

At last night’s Council meeting, Councillors noted a report on three possible alternate sites for an indoor stadium. These sites were land within the Malvern Valley Golf Course, Orrong-Romanis Reserve, and the car park opposite the East Malvern RSL Club.

This report is available to read and will form part of the final feasibility study. 

Update on assessment of three alternative sites – 22 August 2017

After reviewing a draft of the report into three possible alternate sites for an indoor stadium in Stonnington (the Assessment of Alternate Sites Report), Councillors determined at this week’s Council meeting that more work was needed to ensure the information available is complete.

Consequently, Councillors have requested further information be gathered and included in a final report to be presented at the Council meeting on Monday 4 September.

Council motion on indoor stadium feasibility study – 14 July 2017

At this week’s Council meeting, Councillors resolved to consider three possible alternate sites for an indoor stadium. These sites are land within Malvern Valley Golf Course, Orrong-Romanis Reserve, and the car park opposite the East Malvern RSL Club. A review of all Council owned sites previously considered for the location of an indoor stadium, including these three sites, is underway. A Site Summary Report will be brought to Council on 21 August 2017.

Community consultation workshops and survey closed – 10 July 2017

Thank you to everyone who attended one of Council’s community consultation workshops and completed a survey on the proposed location for the Stonnington Indoor Sports Stadium.

The information gathered through this process will form part of the feasibility study that is currently underway.

We are listening to the community and we want to assure residents that no final decision has been made.

Consultant appointed to review sites and prepare preliminary concept plans – 7 July 2017

Hansen Partnership has been appointed to undertake a review of the Council owned sites previously considered for accommodating a new indoor sports stadium, and to prepare preliminary concept plans for a number of sites identified for further investigation through that review process. The sites to be reviewed include Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park, Orrong Park and Romanis Reserve, land within the Malvern Valley Golf Course, along with other Council owned sites.

This detailed site analysis and preliminary concept presentation will assist Council to determine the most appropriate location for the stadium.

Hansen Partnership will also be responsible for preparing the final feasibility study for presentation to Council for further consideration.

Community survey launched and community consultation sessions announced – 30 May 2017

A community survey and consultation sessions form a key part of Council’s feasibility study on the preferred location for the indoor sports stadium.

Feasibility study announced - 8 December 2016

At last night’s Council Meeting, Councillors announced Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park as the preferred site for the proposed indoor stadium and for a detailed feasibility study to be undertaken.
