Stonnington’s Statutory Planning Department is constantly involved in a number of major projects.
Planning Permit Application No. 1027/17 – Jam Factory, 500 Chapel Street, South Yarra
Council received a planning permit application for the total redevelopment of the Jam Factory site at 500 Chapel Street, South Yarra on 6 October 2017.
The application seeks to demolish the existing buildings on site (with the exception of the heritage facades along Chapel Street and part of Garden Street) and construct a series of buildings with a height ranging from 3 storeys to 15 storeys, over 5 levels of basement.
The new development includes offices (57,228sqm), food and drink premises (4771sqm), restaurants (1127 seats), shops (35,747sqm) and cinema (2300 seats). No residential use is included as part of the application.
The proposed operating hours for the offices, food and drink premises, restaurants, shops and cinema are 24 hours, 7 days a week. This application does not include any liquor licence.
A total of 1350 car parking spaces will be provided within the basements, with access from Garden Street and Palermo Street. A total of 750 bicycle parking spaces are provided at the ground level and within the basement levels. All loading and unloading activities will be accommodated within the basements.

There are two (2) information sessions that will be held jointly by the permit applicant and Council in order to assist you in understanding the proposal and to get feedback from you. The information sessions will be held at Functions on Chapel – 255A Chapel Street, Prahran, on the following dates:

- Tuesday 12 December, 4pm – 6pm
