Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project – May 2016
Over the next eight years, the State Government will deliver a coordinated program to remove 50 of the worst level crossings in Melbourne. This will improve safety, reduce congestion and enable more frequent train services. To deliver these 50 removals, the Government has set up the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA).
The Level Crossing Removal Project: Caulfield to Dandenong involves the removal of nine level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong. It includes five rebuilt stations at Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Clayton and Noble Park, as well as power and signalling upgrades. The Victorian Government aims to remove all nine level crossings by the end of 2018.
To safely rebuild the five stations on the Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines, the project team is identifying and constructing offset car parking at alternative stations in the area. For more information, please read the resident notification letters below.
