Swimming Squads

Malvern Academy of Swimming

When your child completes the Learn to Swim program at the Harold Holt Swim Centre, they have the option to continue swimming with the Malvern Academy of Swimming (MAS). They offer both competitive and non-competitive squad swimming.

The squad's unique program caters for swimmers who range in ability, from post Learn to Swim Program through to a national level. The program allows swimmers to enjoy exercising by developing a passion for swimming which can boost self-confidence, provide opportunities for social interaction and offer a chance to have fun.

Malvern Marlins Masters Swimming Club

The Malvern Marlins Masters Swimming Club is based at Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris. Founded in 1990, and affiliated with Masters Swimming Australia, it is one of the largest masters’ clubs in Victoria. Members swim for fitness, friendship and fun.

The club offers five morning and two evening coached training sessions each week, as well as an Endurance (timed swimming) session. Prospective new members aged 18 and over are always welcome to join in.

While some members participate in the squad sessions purely to improve their fitness and technique, others enjoy the fun, atmosphere and challenge of competitive swimming. The club has a proud history, with success in competition from local all the way through to international level. Many Marlins also take part in open water events.

In addition to swimming, social activities form an important part of the club’s culture. Members are encouraged to attend the many functions, which range from informal gatherings for coffee and cake after training, to organised functions including dinners, movie nights and pub sessions.
