Press Release | 9 March 2018
The City of Stonnington is seeking community feedback on a draft Masterplan for Princes Gardens in Prahran.
City of Stonnington Mayor Cr Steve Stefanopoulos said Council is looking to hear from both people who live nearby and visitors who use the gardens.
“Nearby to the busy Chapel Street retail precinct, Princes Gardens provide for a variety of relaxation, recreation, entertainment and event opportunities,” Mayor Stefanopoulos said.
“We are developing a masterplan to ensure Princes Gardens continues to offer open space and facilities that are safe, accessible and contribute to maintaining our healthy and vibrant community.
“Making sure we are using our open space in line with community expectations is important.
“In 2016, Council asked the community what they liked about Princes Gardens and what can be improved. We’ve used this feedback to develop a draft masterplan that proposes a number of improvements to support the diverse range of activities that take place there.
“We’re now seeking feedback on our draft Masterplan for Princes Gardens to make sure we get this right,” said Mayor Stefanopoulos.
Feedback can be provided via onsite drop-in sessions and an online survey, visit connectstonnington.vic.gov.au/princesgardens for more information. Submissions open Tuesday 13 March and close Tuesday 3 April.
Drop-in sessions will be held in the Princes Garden forecourt on Saturday 17 March 10-11.30am and Wednesday 21 March 6-7.30pm.
Following community feedback, the masterplan will be finalised and presented to Council for their consideration. It is expected that the initial stages of construction may commence later this year.
