Stonnington Carers Forum

'It's OK to care for yourself when you're caring for somebody else'

Carers, family members and friends are invited to this years City of Stonnington Carers Forum. Charles Thermos, Director of Transformative Psychology, has over 21 years of experience as a psychologist, counsellor, teacher and group facilitator. He also has lived experience as a carers. He will share with carers of people with a disability, illness, or those who are frail or aged, about how to practice self-compassion. Charles will provide carers with the skills of self-compassion to use in everyday life, recognising that there are time when we feel vulnerable. 

A range of community services will be available on the day to provide information. Light refreshments will also be provided.

International Day of People with Disability

Celebrating inclusion and diverse abilities through art

 To celebrate International Day of people with Disability 2016, the City of Stonnington displayed a range of community art submissions at the Phoenix Park Community Centre in Malvern East from 3-10 December 2016 at the Life in my Community art exhibition. A guide for organisers has been developed by the Meetings and Events Industry of Australia in collaboration with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC). The guide can be downloaded here .

This guide is designed to help those responsible for organising events to ensure its accessibility for all people in the community. The guide contains practical information and advice on how to make events accessible for people of all abilities, whether they are presenters, sponsors or participants.
