The City of Stonnington strongly supports routine childhood immunisation. Free vaccinations, as recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council, user-pay vaccines and school based immunisation program for secondary students are available.
To make childhood immunisation as accessible as possible, the City of Stonnington offers an extensive timetable of regular sessions throughout the year at Prahran, Malvern East and Malvern.
Pre-booking is required for childhood immunisation sessions at our Prahran and Malvern East venues while there is no need to pre-book at Malvern. Please bring along your booking number as well as your child's immunisation history or Health Book and Medicare Card with your child's name included.
In order to protect teenagers as much as possible from some preventable diseases immunisation is offered to Year 7 students at schools throughout the City of Stonnington. Our school based program covers Human Papillomavirus, Diphtheria-Tetanus-Whooping Cough and Varicella (Chickenpox).
In Victoria, all children are legally required to have an Immunisation Status Certificate to enrol at school. The information helps health authorities protect children in the event of a vaccine-preventable disease occurrence in school.
The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) is a national database that keeps a record of immunisations given to people of all ages in Australia. The AIR supplies a history statement that acts as a school entry Immunisation Status Certificate.
A number of user-pay vaccines are available at our regular immunisation sessions throughout the City of Stonnington. These include Chickenpox, Hepatitis A and B and Diphtheria-Tetanus-Whooping Cough.
It is important to be informed as possible about the vaccines available so you better understand why they are so strongly recommended and to be reassured.
The City of Stonnington acknowledges that we are on the traditional land of the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri people and offer our respects to the elders past and present. We recognise and respect the cultural heritage of this land.
