About our strategy
Council has prepared a 20 year plan to address the important community issue of creating open space in Stonnington, which has the second lowest amount of public open space per capita of all Victorian councils.
A survey, conducted in February 2015 by the City of Stonnington, reveals that 91% of respondents believe it is important for Council to create open space now, and for future generations. Read the survey results.
This is a long-term strategy for the whole community...
- Creating open space is about the health and wellbeing of everyone who works, plays or lives in Stonnington.
- Council is not compulsorily acquiring properties, rather, looking to identify and reserve land for future public open space should that land become available at some future time.
- Council is carefully and strategically pursuing open space opportunities by identifying options based on partnerships, negotiations and agreements.
