Amendment C222

Heritage Protection for Individual Interwar Houses

The City of Stonnington has prepared Amendment C222 to the Stonnington Planning Scheme.

The Amendment, as exhibited, proposes to implement the findings of the Interwar Houses Study, which recommended the inclusion of forty-one individually significant interwar houses in the Heritage Overlay. These houses are located in Toorak, Malvern and Armadale.

Exhibition

Exhibition of the Amendment commenced on Thursday 4 February 2016 and closed on Monday 7 March 2016.

As a result of exhibition, twenty-six submission were received. Following consideration of these submissions at the Council Meeting of 26 April 2016, Council adopted a position in support of Amendment C222 and referred the submissions to an independent Panel.

Planning Panel Hearing and Report

A Panel Hearing to consider submissions and the Amendment was held over three days from 21 to 23 June, 2016.Council received the Panel Report on 12 August 2016. In its report, the Panel has recommended that the Amendment be adopted as exhibited subject to several changes. The recommended changes are outlined in the Panel Report, which can be accessed under the Documentation area.

Adoption

At its meeting on 19 December 2016, Council considered the recommendations of the Panel and resolved to adopt the Amendment with changes. A copy of the Council Report can be found under the Documentation area of this page.

Approval

Notice of approval of the Amendment was published in the Government Gazette on 15 June 2017.

The Amendment was approved in line with Council's adopted version of the Amendment with minor changes.
