Residents Shopping Locally

Since 83 per cent of Stonnington residents shop locally at least once per week it is important to know who lives in and around the area.

Of Stonnington residents who responded to a Council survey, 83 per cent said that they shopped locally at least once per week. This highlights the importance of understanding resident shopping trends. In Chapel Street, Prahran more than 60 per cent of respondents said that they shopped locally more than once per week.

Residents shop locally

The City of Stonnington is committed to responding to the needs and desires of Stonnington residents and has conducted significant qualitative and quantitative research to understand, in a broad way, what the community feels is important to them, and then to gauge how important these things are to them. Focus group discussions highlighted that the City's shopping precincts are important to residents and in Chapel Street almost every resident interviewed reported that their local shopping precincts were either very much or somewhat important to their enjoyment of living in Stonnington.
