Personal Training

Training equipment available at Como Park NorthCouncil has implemented a permit system in accordance with the General Local Law 2008 to enable and facilitate personal training or fitness activities in the City  of Stonnington’s parks and gardens. 

The system provides the opportunity for people to participate in physical activity, whilst still maintaining safe access for the general community.  The system aims to minimise the impact of commercial activities on both the grassed areas and other users and to address public liability concerns.

Applying for a Permit

Personal training allocations are made on a seasonal basis (6 month period) in accordance with the following:

  • Summer season - 1 October – 31 March
  • Winter season - 1 April – 30 September

Personal Trainers wishing to use the City of Stonnington’s parks and gardens must complete a Personal Training Permit Application Form. 

No fees or charges apply to Personal Trainers using the Stonnington’s parks and gardens however they are required to adhere to the Conditions of Use for Personal Trainers in Parks and Gardens.

 Personal Trainers are also required provide a copy of the following documents prior to using Stonnington’s parks and gardens:

  • Certificate of currency for public liability insurance for a minimum cover of $10 million;
  • Risk management plan; and 
  • Evidence of registration with Kinect Australia, Fitness Australia or another recognised peak body or educational institution

Other Important Information

Group sizes are not permitted to exceed 15 participants and there are a limited number of personal trainers permitted to operate in a particular park or garden. Applications are assessed by the City of Stonnington’s Recreation Services Unit and letters of approval and permits are forwarded via mail.
