E-waste is growing at a rate of more than 3 times the rate of general municipal waste. This is a huge concern as E-waste contains many valuable materials which can recycled into new products. These materials are finite resources including petroleum and precious metals and they are in limited supply.

E-waste refers to all end-of-life electronic and electrical equipment. This includes;

  • Computer equipment including monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, hard drivers and computer mice
  • Household appliances including TVs, VCRs, hi-fi equipment, computer game consoles, joysticks, digital cameras
  • Miscellaneous items including cables, disk drives, printer cartridges

Tips for Disposal

  • Save or delete important documents or files before disposal
  • Be careful when lifting heavy equipment
  • Pack equipment safely and securely within the vehicle before transporting for Depot
