Watering Street trees

Since Melbourne has experienced below average rainfall in the past decade, Stonnington residents can use grey water (non-toilet household water waste) for the occasional watering of street trees.

Pouring the occasional bucket of grey water will help trees older than two years old endure the current climate. However, any more than one bucket of water per week could cause the tree to become dependent on additional watering.

Residents are reminded to take care with grey water and ensure that environmentally friendly washing detergents are used in washing activities.
