Hazard Areas in Stonnington
Termites - No part of the municipal district is designated as an area in which buildings are likely to be subject to attack by termites
Snowfall or Bushfire - The Building Regulations were amended on 11 March 2009 to change the way bushfire zones are dealt with. Sub-reg 326(1)(c) (declared bushfire areas) previously provided with property information has been removed. Instead Australian Standard 3959 will apply to bushfire construction for all new building work to dwellings, accommodation buildings and outbuildings tin Victoria. This requires an assessment of bushfire risk to a 6 tier ranking system - 'bushfire attack level'.
Uncontrolled Overland Drainage - No part of the municipality is designated land or works as defined by the Building Regulations.
Sewered Areas - There are no unsewered areas within the municipality.
Flood Zones - Areas of low lying land, old water courses and places where the drainage system reaches capacity in extreme storm events have been designated as liable to flooding. All these areas are now shown as overlays in the Stonnington Planning Scheme either in the Special Building Overlay or the Land Subject to Inundation Overlay. More information on flood zones.
Asbestos - Older buildings in Stonnington may contain asbestos building materials. Go the section Asbestos for more information.
