Builder Parking in Commercial Streets
Tradespersons zone - Commercial (Short Term)
A tradespersons zone permit to occupy carspaces is available for a project within a commercial area that will take 4 weeks or less. Such permits:
allow builder or tradesperson vehicles to occupy up to 2 car spaces at the front of the site, over-riding local posted time limits are applicable between 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, excluding clearway times are charged a fee based on off-street carpark rates, that is $1.20 per car space occupied per hour require the spaces occupied to be partitioned off from general parking in accordance with Council requirements and AS1742.3-2002 and VicRoads Worksite Code of Practice.
Only one extension beyond the initial permit period may be applied for. If granted it will be charged at $40 plus the $1.20 per car space per hour rate.

Works zone permits
For projects lasting more than 4 weeks works zone permits should be applied for.
Commercial area works zones:
- allow builder vehicles to occupy the car spaces adjacent to the frontage of the site;
- operate between 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, excluding clearway times.
The charges for a commercial works zone permit are:
- $460 ($230 signage cost + $230 refundable bond); plus
- $1.20 per car space or part thereof in the works zone per hour. If unmarked, a car space is deemed to be 6m in length. This is based on the off-street carpark rates.
A minimum car space charge of $300 applies for the initial permit period. The rate of costs otherwise is listed below.
Extensions beyond the initial permit period may be considered.
