Builder Parking in Residential Streets

Tradespersons permits - Residential

Tradespersons parking permits are available for works of a minor nature in residential streets. They are issued for up to 4 weeks only, unless there are exceptional circumstances.  They are available from Council Service Centres (8290 1333) and allow short-term parking (between one day to four weeks) for tradespersons in residential areas. The resident must live at the property.

Works zone permits

For longer running projects in residential streets works zone permits are available.  Residential works zones permits:

• are issued for a minimum period of 4 weeks
• allocate the parking spaces adjacent to the property frontage as a works zone
• operate between 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday only
• can apply for either single dwelling or multiple dwelling building projects.

Single Dwellings

For works to single houses etc the charges for a works zone permit are $460.  This includes $230 for the cost of the signs and a $230 refundable deposit held against damage or loss of the signs.  Applications can be made for a period of up to 3 months, after which extensions of time may be granted at a cost of $15 per month.

Multiple Dwelling Units

The charges for a multi-dwelling works zone permit are:

• $460 ($230 signage cost + $230 refundable bond) plus
• $0.60 per car space or part thereof to be occupied per hour.  If unmarked, a car space is deemed to be 6m in length.  A minimum car space charge of $300 applies for the initial permit period. 

 Extensions beyond the initial permit period may be considered.
