The research paper supports additional policy direction set out in the Stonnington Planning Scheme and the changing policy direction of the State and Federal Government around the potential harmful impacts of alcohol. The paper aims to:

  • Provide a statutory planning method, for assisting in the control of alcohol-related harm in the Chapel Street Precinct;
  • Determine whether the Chapel Street Precinct is at saturation level;
  • Provide support to the implementation of Clauses 22.10 and 52.27;
  • Provide a basis in which to reduce and prevent alcohol-related harm associated with licensed premises; and
  • Provide supporting documentation for local planning policy development.
