Infringement Court Lodgements

When an owner or nominated driver has not paid an outstanding fine and reminder notice/agency fees and fails to respond to the Penalty Reminder Notice, the infringement is lodged at the Infringements Court accruing further additional Statutory Court costs.

The Infringements Court sends a Notice of Enforcement Order for the original penalty plus additional costs (approximately $90.00) to the registered owner of the vehicle or the nominated driver requesting payment within 28 days.

If no payment is received in the time allocated, the Sheriff's Department will execute a warrant issued by the Court at which time further additional costs are incurred. Additional measures may also be implemented including cancellation of the driver's licence, cancellation of vehicle registration or wheel clamping the vehicle. The Sheriff may also seize vehicles and other possessions to recover outstanding penalties and costs.

Once an infringement notice has been lodged in the Infringements Court, all inquiries must be made directly to the Infringements Court who will advise the options available in the Court system. The Court may be contacted in person at Level 1, 277 William Street, Melbourne, in writing at PO Box 14487, Melbourne City Mail Centre 8001 or via telephone 9200 8222.
