Public Holiday Parking Rules

Rule 318 of the Road Rules - Victoria 1999 provides that where a public holiday is declared, signs that operate on specific days (ie: Monday to Friday) are not applicable on a public holiday that falls on one of those days.

This means that, if a restriction normally applies from Monday to Friday and a public holiday falls on one of those days (ie Monday), the restriction does not apply on that day (ie Monday).

However, it should be noted that where no days are specified on the sign, the restriction shown is in operation every day regardless of public holidays and infringement notices may be issued if drivers do not comply.

Drivers must check signs carefully when parking on a public holiday and adhere to the restrictions if required.
