Statutory Planning Unit

The City of Stonnington's Statutory Planning unit is responsible for:

• Assessing planning applications and amendments, for use and development of land;
• Assessing applications for the subdivision of land;
• Representing Council at planning appeals; and
• Providing general planning advice to the community on statutory planning matters.

Statutory Planning is located within the Prahran Town Hall and our planning counter is open 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We have planners on duty everyday at the planning counter and via the phone to assist with your general planning enquiries. Please note that counter staff are unable to assist with unscheduled pre application meetings or detailed advice - these matters must be lodged in writing requesting the relevant advice.

	Online Planning Register The information in the Planning Register allows any person to check whether a planning permit application has been lodged, the location, the proposed development or use of the land and the outcome. 	Planning Scheme Amendments An amendment can involve a change to the written part of the scheme (ordinance) and/or to a map.  An amendment can be initiated by a planning authority (including Council) or by any person.		Subdivision of Buildings Subdivision is the creation of separate units of a building or lots of land.

City Strategy (Strategic Planning)

Stonnington's City Strategy unit is responsible for:

• The development of land use and planning policies and strategies; and 
• Administering and reviewing the Stonnington Planning Scheme including amendments to the scheme.
