The City of Stonnington received a planning application for 590 Orrong Road and 4 Osment Street, Armadale on Friday 16 September 2011.
Use and development of the land for a total of 475 dwellings (comprising 457, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and 18 townhouses), 165 sqm convenience shop, 120 sqm licensed cafe with 40 seats and maternal health centre. Ancillary multi-purpose room and pool and gym facilities are also proposed for the use of the on-site residents. Vehicular access is proposed from Orrong Road, reduction in car parking provision, removal of native vegetation and waiver of loading requirements. The convenience shop and licensed cafe proposed opening hours are 7am - 7pm. A total of 749 car spaces is proposed (including 34 visitor spaces in basements and 33 on-street spaces) and 40 motorcycle / moped parking spaces and 688 bicycle spaces.
Planning application outcome: Stonnington Council refused a planning application by Lend Lease for a major development at 590 Orrong Road and 4 Osment Street, Armadale at a special meeting of Council on 30 January 2012, with over 200 people attending.
