C187 - New Residential Zones
The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C187 New Residential Zones for Stonnington. The amendment came into operation when the notice of approval was published in the Victoria Government Gazette (19 June 2014).

At its meeting on 16 December 2013, Council considered a report on the consultation response, final zones and schedules to the zones (local variations including building heights, setbacks and landscaping). Council resolved to adopt the final zones and schedules and apply to the Minister for Planning to prepare and approve a planning scheme amendment to introduce the new residential zones.
The request for approval of the new residential zones was lodged with the Minister for Planning on 24 December 2013.
What are the New Residential Zones?
Stonnington previously had one residential zone, called the 'Residential 1 Zone'. This zone has been replaced by three new zones:
- Neighbourhood Residential Zone
Restricts housing growth and protects neighbourhood character.
Preserves neighbourhood character while allowing modest housing growth.
Encourages more diverse housing and land use.
