The Planning and Environmental Act (1987) requires Council to review its Planning Scheme within a year of the adoption of its Council Plan (i.e. by mid 2010).

The Review commenced in October 2009 and comprised an audit of the existing Planning Scheme and a broader values and visions exercise about the future land use and development of the City. Feedback from the community was sought in March and April 2010. The final report summarises the results of the audit, the consultation process and feedback and makes recommendations for changes to the Planning Scheme and future work.

At its meeting on 7 June 2010, Council adopted a Planning Scheme Review Report and subsequently submitted it to the Minister for Planning.
