Waste and Recycling
Council Collections
The City of Stonnington provides residents with the following services:
- Weekly garbage collection;
- Fortnightly recycling collection; and
- Fortnightly garden waste collection.
Collections operate Monday - Friday every day of the year and are not affected by public holidays. Place bins at the kerbside on your collection days regardless of public holidays. Council also provides two collections of hard waste and garden prunings annually.

Stolen or Missing Bins
To arrange a replacement bin, complete the Statutory Declaration Form and Bin Application Form and return to Council's Service Centre.

Bin Placement Garbage bins can be placed out at 3pm the day before collection and must be returned before midnight the day of collection. |

Recycling A range of recycling services are available including Council's kerbside recycling service and alternative recycling options at other locations including our Transfer Station. |

Garbage A choice of two bin sizes are offered for household garbage - 120 or 240 litre. |

Garden Waste The average Stonnington 240 litre bin contains 26.1% recyclable garden waste.
