Waste Services and Enquiries

Changing Residence

If you move, please leave your bins at the property for the use of new occupants.

Excess Waste

For large quantities of rubbish, Council offers residents two choices: access to Council Waste Transfer Station or the possibility of obtaining a permit for a miniskip.

To have a miniskip on the nature strip or the road outside a property, a permit is required. The miniskip rental company will obtain the permit from Council and include the cost in its invoice. For more information about miniskips visit the Skips page or contact Council's Building Control Department on Ph: 03 8290 3218.

Need Extra Bins?

Ratepayers with larger disposal needs can order extra 240 litre garbage or garden bins by contacting Council's Service Centre on Ph: 03 8290 1333.

Share Bins and Save

A discount may be available where two or more flats, apartments, units or multi-tenanted commercial properties share 240 litre garbage bins. Contact Council's Service Centre on Ph: 03 8290 1333 for more information.

Bin Maintenance

Bins can be kept free of odour by regular cleaning with soapy water and a hand held brush. Council will replace stolen bins and repair bins damaged by wear and tear.

At no time should the below items be placed in bins:

  • Hot ashes or liquids
  • Corrosive or flammable items
  • Builder's rubble

Commercial Waste

Commercial properties needing alternative collections or larger refuse containers should contact Council's Service Centre on Ph: 03 8290 1333.

Report Dumped Rubbish

Dumping rubbish is unsightly and illegal. Report dumped rubbish to Council's Service Centre Ph: 03 8290 1333 or via e-mail.
