Local History Catalogue

The Local History Centre maintains a database of over 40,000 records, describing or reproducing books, photographs, ephemera, documents, building plans, maps, subdivision plans, newspapers and general local history information.

If Quicksearch results in too many "hits", try narrowing your search using selected fields in the Advanced Search module.  Our catalogues were started long before municipal amalgamation in 1994, so one way to quickly limit your search is to select either Prahran or Malvern databases, depending upon which side (east or west) of Kooyong Road your interest lies.

New catalogue records are loaded to the database in the first week of each month.  A button on the search screen allows you to call these new records up as a discrete set.
