Indigenous Plant Giveaway

The City of Stonnington gave a free indigenous plant to each household at Council's Sustainable Living Expo held between 9 and 11 May.

This giveaway aimed to encourage residents to plant greater numbers of indigenous and native plants in their gardens to work towards the future creation of native plant and wildlife microcosms within the Melbourne Metropolitan area. This will ultimately maintain and increase biodiversity and ecosystem function.

By providing indigenous plants to residents Council is acting in accordance with Stonnington's Biodiversity Strategy that is set for implementation in 2008.
