Peg Goode - Wandering and Wondering with WatercolourPeg Goode
September 2009

Peg is a Stonnington local who after a career in librarianship became a painter.

In her own words:  'Wandering and wondering with watercolours. Yes, I have certainly been wandering - painting trips to France, Italy and in Australia - both in cities and the countryside and of course by the sea.

I have been fortunate in my journey  to have had the privilege of taking part in groups led by Charles Reid, Robert Wade, Clifton Pugh, Mirka Mora and Maz Angus and travels all over.

The incredible colours, the sky so high, the sheer space which is such a part of Central Australia can be contrasted with the green lushness and the orange coloured rocks of Tasmania's inland and coastal scenery. Such beauty is both inspiring and intimidating.

Connecting with the Land - Judda - Peter MacKay
July/August 2009Peter MacKay - Judda - Barramundi Cod

Peter MacKay "Judda" is a Stonnington based artist. Judda means the full moon. His mother is Aboriginal from the Baranbinja tribe and his father is Tongan.

Judda is a passionate story teller with both his paintings and through his work in schools - he believes that it is through his storytelling that his culture can be shared with others.  Peter shares not only his painting but dancing and playing the didgeridoo through his work with schools.

The works on display at both Malvern and Prahran included works depicting Judda's strong connection to the sea and the land and the different journeys he wants to share with us.

The Currajong School and Polyglot Puppet Theatre have worked together on puppetry and performance projects since 2005. This exhibition reflected some of the fantastic ideas around the new Polyglot show Check Out! The students were part of the creative process as the show was made and so have a close relationship with the themes and puppets. Check Out! deals with children as market targets and the kinds of forces that are brought to bear on families to buy.
