Harold Holt Swim Centre offers more than just swimming! We also have a fantastic range of fitness classes including Aerobics, Body Bar, Circuit, Aquaerobics, Over 50's, Yoga, Pilates and SPIN. If you'd like more information, call our friendly staff on 8290 1678.
Class Descriptions
Aerobics
B = Suitable for Beginners I = Intermediate A = Advanced
- Body Blast:An awesome body toning weights workout with bars, dumbells and your body weight, including abs. It's a blast! B/I/A
- SPIN:A great cardio, strength & endurance session on the NXT bikes. You'll be motivated and inspired you to work hard in this 45 min class. Take a ride! B/I/A
- Body Bar:A fun class with lots of variety designed to give your muscles a complete workout. Using barbells, it's great for toning the major muscle groups. B/I/A
- Powerball:A Body Bar class with an abs session on the fitballs. The best of our 2 most popular classes! B/I/A
- Aerodance:A fast-paced dance workout to contemporary music. Learn the latest dance moves, while burning calories at the same time! Perfect for beginners. B/I
- Hi Energy:A challenging, motivating aerobic workout combining both high and low impact moves. A
- Super Circuit:Easy to follow, motivating workout using a variety of equipment, in a station-to-station format. B/I/A
- Trim 'n' Tone: Two classes in one. A fat-burning cardio circuit workout, followed by muscle toning and conditioning with weights. It will trim you down and tone you up! B/I/A
- Active Adults:*A fun, low impact class especially for men and women over 50 years of age, who are looking for a gentle workout. B/I
- Fantastic Adults:* An extension of 'Active Adults' involving toning and strengthening work with resistance equipment. You'll feel fantastic! B/I
- Adults Tone:* A Trim 'n' Tone class (see above) designed for over 50s. B/I
- Strength: A strength training class involving compound and isolation exercises with weights. Just like a group personal training session. I/A
- Step Moves: A thigh and butt blaster, incorporating choreography on the popular steps, where you choose how hard you work. Step to it! I/A
*Double Headers: Two separate classes at 7am and 8am, or if you're feeling fit you can do both!
Aquatic Fitness
- Indoor pool - Aqua Fit: A strong, invigorating workout with plenty of movement through the water. A great way to burn calories without the impact! Hosted by a Vicfit Qualified instructor. B/I/A
- Indoor pool - Aqua Groovers: An easy to follow class where the water provides resistance and buoyancy. Perfect for improving the fitness of adults over 50 years of age. B/I/A
- Outdoor pool - Fitswim:A lap swimming fitness class with a focus on improving stroke technique and building cardiovascular endurance. Perfect for the lap swimmer who wants to go to the next level. Participants should be able to swim 1km. I/A
Hatha Yoga
- Beginner: For students with little or no yoga experience. Provides an introduction to the classic 10 postures (asanas), basic breathing techniques (pranayama) and relaxation.
- General & Intermediate: Consolidation and extension of the work done in Beginners' including more varied asanas, stronger limbering exercise and Visualization.
- Advanced: Builds on Intermediate Level work, further developing flexibility and incorporating more challenging asanas.
- Gentle & Therapeutic (includes pre/post natal): A relaxing class for beginners who have a limited range of movement or a joint condition, eg. Arthritis. Also suitable for women who are pregnant or have given birth. Babies welcome.
Pilates
The complete body & mind conditioning system. Involves core stabilisation postures and breathing techniques. Tones, trims & strengthens. Suitable for all fitness levels and abilities. B/I/A
