The Planning Unit
The City of Stonnington's Planning unit is responsible for:
- The development of land use planning policies and strategies
- Administering and reviewing the Stonnington Planning Scheme
- Assessing town planning applications
- Assessing applications for the subdivision of land
- Representing Council at planning appeals
- Providing general planning advice to the community on town planning matters
Location and Contact Details
We are located within the Prahran Town Hall and our planning counter is open 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We have planners on duty everyday both at the counter and on the phone to assist with your general planning enquiries. Please note that counter staff are unable to assist with unscheduled pre application meetings or detailed advice - these matters should to be lodged in writing to:

Council's Building Control Services Unit administers building control services and functions to meet Council's building control responsibilities. These are carried out through:
- The office of the Municipal Building Surveyor
- Management of Council responsibilities under the Building Act, Local Government Act, Environment Protection Act, the Building Regulations and Building Code of Australia
