What attracted you to Council?
I really like people and having the chance to assist local residents as a Councillor is a great thrill. Public service is very important to me as is the right of individuals to have a say in decisions that affect them and their community.
What do you look forward to achieving during your term?
Overall, my main aim is for the Council to be an expression of the views of the community.
I am committed to protecting the amenity of the residential areas in East Ward, supporting our local businesses and ensuring public safety is a key priority across the City of Stonnington.
I keep a very keen eye on the Council's bottom line and am committed to ensuring Stonnington Council is in a position to deliver core services and to make provision for the future and maintain a budget surplus each year.
What do you think are the major issues facing Council?
Ensuring that our local community views are not undermined by a one-size fits all approach to public policy that has been a recent hallmark of the current Federal Government and the previous State Government. Since becoming a Councillor I have seen where this has led to bad policy outcomes for our community in areas such as planning, waste management and clearways. As a Council our first priority must be to promote our community's interests.
