Profile

What attracted you to Council?

I became involved in Local Government after objecting to a planning application that had significant detrimental impacts to my home and lifestyle. It was a huge learning curve and opened my eyes up to the complications and inadequacies of the Victorian planning system, VCAT and significant impacts some planning applications can have on residents. For the layperson planning can be a daunting and intimidating process. I also became concerned about the deterioration of South Ward. Stonnington has been my home my whole life. Both my parents and my husband's parents have lived in Stonnington for more than 50 years so I'm very passionate about the City my family calls home.

What do you look forward to achieving during your term?

  • Strengthening our planning scheme to further recognise and respect neighbourhood character;
  • Continuing to fight against proposed clearway extensions;
  • Opposing the State Government's Development Assessment Committees and the removal of planning notification, objection and appeal rights for residents in Activity Centres;
  • Upgrading and beautifying our shopping strips; and
  • Planting more drought resistant trees and grasses to further beautify our City.

What do you think are the major issues facing Council?

The onslaught of high-scale and opportunistic development designed to maximise profits at the expense of residential amenity and neighbourhood character.

Anti-social behaviour from late-night visitors to our City who damage infrastructure, both public and private, and disrespect our local community.
