The Local Government Act 2020 requires the City of Stonnington to collect and make public information about some councillor and council administration activities and responsibilities.

As an open and transparent organisation making public this information also aligns with our Public Transparency Policy.

 Council is required to adopt and maintain an expenses policy in relation to the reimbursement of out of pocket expenses for Councillors and members of delegated committees. Council adopted its policy on 17 August 2020. Councillors expenses for the period ending 24 October 2020 as shown below.

Election candidates are required under the Local Government Act 2020 to provide campaign donation returns. A Council election was held on 24 October 2020 and all candidates must disclose if they have or have not received any donations or gifts.

A campaign donation return is a record of donations or gifts, including in kind support, during the donation period.

A summary of the Election campaign return is required to be made available on the Council website and is shown below:

The Local Government Act 2020 requires that all specified persons (for example a Councillor, a member of a delegated committee who is not a Councillor, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or a nominated officer) must lodge an initial personal interests return with Council’s CEO within 30 days of appointment.

A biannual return must then be lodged by all ongoing specified persons in March and September each year with Council’s CEO.

The CEO must prepare a summary of the personal interests information disclosed.

The Act and the Local Government (Governance and Integrity) Regulations 2020 detail what information must be included and and excluded in the summary. The CEO must make sure the summary is available on Council’s website. A copy of the summary of personal interests is also available for inspection at the office of Council during normal office hours.
