Work experience is a great way for secondary and tertiary students to develop skills in the workplace, and gives us the chance to bring fresh ideas into the organisation.
Tertiary placements provide the opportunity to apply academic learning in the workplace, and develop work readiness, key skills and knowledge. We accept tertiary placements that are a requirement as part of course completion and endorsed by the tertiary institute.
Our work experience offers secondary students the opportunity to develop their subject-based skills, learn about the industry and workplace, explore possible career options, and enhance interpersonal and communication skills.
Before students apply for work experience we request they have a think about their areas of interest within Council. To get an idea of the different work areas, view our organisational chart.
If the work experience is Community Service or Duke of Edinburgh, students can apply directly with the Council department and do not need to complete the application form.
