Changes to services

Our facilities and services have closed or changed in line with Victorian Government restrictions. People are required to have a face covering to access our early education and maternal and child health services and waste transfer station.

Car parks All City of Stonnington public car park are open. OPEN 
Chapel Off Chapel
The venue is currently closed. No need to venture out to get intimate with Chapel's artists. They are bringing artists direct to your living room with their Check in with Chapel series. During these times of isolation Chapel Off Chapel would love to stay connected with you! See what else Chapel is up to on Facebook and Instagram. CLOSED 
Child care (early years services)

Our early years services will change from Thursday to only be available for vulnerable children and children of permitted workers. We will provide more information about this to families soon. 



Community Centres and RSL All City of Stonnington community centres, recreation centres, sports pavilions and the Prahran RSL are closed. CLOSED 
Customer Service Centres All public-facing Customer Service Centres are closed. See above for how to contact our customer services team. CLOSED 
Events  All planned City of Stonnington events are postponed until further notice. Online offerings are planned, and will be announced soon.  CHANGED
Function centres  All function and event spaces are closed. If you would like to enquire about future venue availability, we'd love to hear from you! For information email our Venues team. CLOSED 
Golf Course The Malvern Valley Golf Course is closed.  CLOSED
Gyms  All outdoor gym equipment and the Harold Hold Swim Centre gym are closed.  CLOSED 
History Centre

The Stonnington History Centre is closed.

History Centre staff are available to answer your questions. Email the History Centre team or call 8290 1360. 

Our immunisation program is being delivered out of Malvern Town Hall only. All immunisations must be pre-booked online. Adults and children aged 12 or over are required to wear a face covering to access the program, children aged under 12 are not required to wear a face covering.  CHANGED

All Stonnington libraries and return chutes are closed. Items currently on loan will automatically be renewed and overdue fees will not apply.


A range of online library services are available, including an extensive digital library. To access the digital library become a member.

Maternal and child health 

Developmental assessments, consultations and parent support groups are continuing via phone and online. 15-minute face-to-face appointments are available to families with babies aged up to four months or with high needs. Cleaning and social distancing measures are in place in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services guidelines.

Adults and children aged 12 or over are required to wear a face covering to access the service, children aged under 12 are not required to wear a face covering.

Middle years and youth services  The middle years and youth service office is closed. CLOSED 

Youth worker support via phone, video-chat or email. Call 8290 7020 during business hours to make an appointment.

Parking  Some easing of restrictions around street sweeping and time-based parking (green signs). For more details view the Parking page.  CHANGED

All City of Stonnington parks, gardens, open spaces and reserves are open. If visiting one of our 50+ parks (including sports grounds, open spaces and ovals) practice social distancing and follow the Victorian Government's 8pm curfew. 

If the park you visit is crowded please visit another one.

  All dog off-leash parks are open. OPEN 
Park facilities  Playgrounds, fitness equipment, skate parks, basketball courts, cricket nets, barbecues - all closed. CLOSED 
Pools (aquatic centres)  The Harold Hold Swim Centre (including the gym) and Prahran Aquatic Centre are closed.  CLOSED 
Prahran Square  Prahran Square is open, including the car park and the public toilets. If visiting Prahran Square please practice responsible social distancing by keeping 1.5m away from others.  OPEN 
  Prahran Square organised events and activities are cancelled until further notice. CANCELLED 
Sporting club facilities 

All sporting club facilities, pavilions are closed.

Sports grounds

Sports grounds and ovals remain open. To extend hours people can comfortably exercise, we are leaving the floodlights on from 5 to 7.30pm Monday to Friday at:

  • Basil Oval in Malvern East
  • Como Park in South Yarra
  • Malvern Cricket Ground
  • Orrong Park in Prahran
  • Waverley Park in Malvern East

Practise social distancing and follow the Victorian Government’s 8pm curfew.

Street sweeping  Our street sweeping service is operating as normal  UNCHANGED 
Tennis courts  Public tennis courts are closed. CLOSED
Toilets  All public toilets are open. Cleaning protocols are in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services guidelines  OPEN 
Waste and recycling collections 

Our waste and recycling services are operating as normal. Please continue to place your bin out on your usual day. Collection times may differ so please do not be concerned if your bin is not collected at the usual time.

Waste Transfer Station 

The waste transfer station continues to operate under strict healthy, safety and social distancing protocols - including payment by EFTPOS only and a limit of four vehicles permitted at one time and a face covering will be required to access the facility. 

To avoid lengthy delays please only visit the Waste Transfer Station if it is essential to do so.
