Highly ambitious and exciting open-air plaza project never seen before in the City of Stonnington
Multifunctional urban park that delivers on Council’s Strategies for Creating Open Space
Welcome to Cato Square
Cato Square is the City of Stonnington's $60+ million transformation of the old Cato Street car park in Prahran. When complete, the project will deliver around 10,000 square metres of multi-functional urban parkland sitting above 500+ car parking spaces.
It is one of the largest, most ambitious and exciting construction projects ever delivered in the City of Stonnington and will provide urgently needed open space for recreation, events, festivals and markets, plus a 20 per cent increase in car parking spaces to service the surrounding Chapel and Greville street precincts.
Cato Square is set to become an iconic cultural and recreational destination for residents, businesses, shoppers and visitors to Stonnington, with a diversity of spaces - from those for quiet contemplation to those designed to stage vibrant community events.
Construction started in January 2018 and is on schedule to be completed in mid-2019.
