Naming Cato Street parkland
The City of Stonnington is undertaking a major redevelopment of the Cato Street car park, transforming the space into approximately 10,000 square metres of multi-functional urban parkland sitting above a 500 bay underground car park.
Cato Square has been used as the project’s working title, but we are now looking for a permanent name for the urban parkland that sits at the centre of the Chapel Street and Commercial Road retail and entertainment precincts.
To manage the naming process, Council has appointed independent brand consultants, Hoyne, who will use a combination of stakeholder interviews and community survey insights to inform a name and brand.
Stakeholder interviews were conducted during the week of 24 September with the Chapel Street Precinct Association, Reconciliation Stonnington, the Stonnington History Centre and Lyon Architects.
An online community survey was open from Monday 17 September to Friday 12 October.
It is anticipated a proposed name and brand will be presented for Council consideration by late-2018 or early-2019.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey.
