There are a number of web-based resources and guides available to aid residents and developers achieve more sustainable outcomes.

BESS (Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard) Assists builders and developers to demonstrate that they meet sustainability information requirements as part of a planning permit applications

Australian Building Codes Board Provides information on minimum building energy-efficiency ratings to be met by developments.

Accurate and FirstRate Software tools developed under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) to estimate your home’s future demands for heating and cooling. Typically used to estimate building energy efficiency against the Building Code requirements.

Moreland Energy Foundation A not-for-profit organisation dedicated to sustainable energy, providing information and advice to households and businesses.  

NABERS Rates the operational impact of non-residential buildings on the environment.

NatHERS NatHERS enables the design of a home to be assessed by skilled professionals using computer modelling programs to improve the quality of design and achieve building approvals.

Resource Smart Victoria A Victorian government website with information about current rebates, information about saving water and energy, and reducing waste.

STORM A tool to assess whether best practice water quality objectives have been achieved by your site.

Tankulator A free on-line tool that helps you calculate what size rainwater tank best suits your needs.

Green Star  The green building rating tools from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). These are typically used for larger building developments.  

Make Your Home Green  A Victorian government website containing information and fact sheets to assist households in becoming more sustainable.

Your Home  Website providing a wide range of advice and design guides for passive design and sustainable[s1] [m2]  living.
