Symphony Under the Stars

The City of Stonnington offers a full and vibrant program of arts and cultural activities throughout the year.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan adds a deeper dimension by engaging with, and empowering, our Aboriginal community. It guides Council so that we can achieve the best outcomes that meet the community's needs and aspirations, now and into the future.

The City of Stonnington boasts its own theatre complex in the heart of Prahran. Chapel off Chapel presents new and established talent, and hosts more than 450 performances and approximately 55,000 audience members each year.

Council produces an annual program of events in venues and parks across the municipality, which showcase opera, symphony, jazz, performing art, and a children's program for the June/July school holidays.

Council facilitates exhibitions of the work of local and featured artists and consults an appointed art acquisitions panel of industry experts who guide the acquisition of artworks and the commission of public art for the City.

The Arts and Cultural Grants Program supports the presentation of innovative Stonnington-based activities that enhance the cultural, community and economic development of the City, including festivals and events.
