Talking and listening to children has an important impact on the whole family. It improves your bond with them and encourages them to listen to you. It helps them to form relationships and build self-esteem.

Based on the work of Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish, this workshop will provide practical examples of how parents can enhance their communication with their childrenEvery other occupation, from driving a truck to performing surgery, requires months or years of training. Only for the job of raising children do we expect that love will be enough. But sometimes it isn’t. Parents also need skills.

Topics covered:

  • How to listen to (and understand) your child’s concerns
  • Helping children deal with their feelings
  • Engaging Cooperation
  • Alternatives to Punishment
  • Encouraging Autonomy
  • Praise.

When: Thursday, 14 July 7.30pm to 8.30pm

This is a free event. Bookings essential via Eventbrite.

This is a Skills for Sronger Families parenting workshop presented by City of Stonnington Community Services.
