Announcing the winners of this year’s Design a Stonnington Library Bookmark Competition.

Three winners: Georgia, age 7, winner of the 5–8-year-old category, Amelia, age 12, winner of the 9–12-year-old category and Kyra, age 14, winner of the 13–17-year-old category, will now have their designs featured on a bookmark, and each take home a fantastic prize pack of art books and supplies.

Held as part of Children's Book Week, children living or going to school in Stonnington were invited to use this year's Book Week theme, Read, Grow, Inspire, to inspire their own bookmark design.

The competition attracted more than 100 entries from all over Stonnington, proving the competition’s popularity and enthusiasm among our community’s bright and up and coming artists, painters and illustrators.

The bookmarks will soon be available (free) across our libraries.

Well done to all our competition entrants and congratulations to this year’s winners.

Background:

Each year, Stonnington Libraries deliver a Children’s Book Week Bookmark Design Competition to encourage young people in the community to get involved, read, learn and be creative.

The bookmark design helps young creatives celebrate Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Children’s Book Week held annually (this year, 19 to 25 August 2023).

The competition invites children to design a bookmark based on a theme.

Three winning designs are selected, and their designs are produced as a printed bookmark made available at Stonnington Libraries. The winners receive a prize pack each.
