New paper recycling bins

You have noticed our new paper recycling bins near the self-loan stations across our libraries. These new bins encourage the recycling of all paper in our libraries, including receipt paper.

Fully biodegradable book covers

On the subject of books, you may notice that some books in our collection feel different. We have started to cover books in our collection with Bioguard 80®, which is fully biodegradable and leaves no toxic microplastic to contaminate our soil and waterways. Great for the environment, and one way we're helping to create a more sustainable future.

Home Energy Kits now available

Towards Zero Home Energy Kits have recently been added to our collection and are available for library members to reserve and borrow

Each kit includes a thermal imaging camera, a power meter, a thermometer and a user manual. The manual provides a step-by-step guide to undertake eight home energy and water tests to identify opportunities to improve the overall efficiency of your home.

  1. Reduce your energy and water usage
  2. Cut your carbon emissions
  3. Increase the comfort of your home
  4. Save money on your utility bills

The kits will help you identify ways to save energy and money and can be used in your home, rental property or business. Council's Climate Emergency Action Plan outlines their commitment to work towards zero net carbon emissions across the entire community by 2030.
