Open House Melbourne Weekend comes to Stonnington

On 27 and 28 July, 15 buildings in Stonnington will open their doors to the community as part of Open House Melbourne Weekend, an informative and exciting open house tours program.

As a long-time volunteer for Open House Melbourne, a past member of the Open House Melbourne Volunteer Council, and a current member of the Open House Melbourne Building Council, the Mayor of Stonnington, Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, is proud to be associated with the program.

“I encourage local residents and visitors to explore the wonderful architecture of many of our significant buildings within Stonnington,” said Mayor Stefanopoulos.

“There are some beautiful buildings especially selected for this program that reflect Stonnington’s superb architectural quality and our heritage.”

The following renowned buildings will be part of this special event:

  • Central Park Conservatory, Malvern East
  • Como House and Garden, South Yarra
  • Former Malvern Fire Station now the Firestation Print Studio, Malvern
  • Former Prahran Police Station and Courthouse, Prahran
  • State Gymnastics Centre, Windsor
  • Malvern Town Hall, Malvern
  • Mandeville Hall, Toorak
  • Northbrook and former stables, Malvern
  • St George's Anglican Church, Malvern
  • St Joseph's Catholic Church, Malvern
  • Stonnington Depot, Malvern
  • The Gables, Malvern East
  • Toorak House, Swedish Church Melbourne, Toorak
  • Umina, The Country Women's Association of Victoria, Toorak, and
  • Valentines Mansion, Malvern House, Glen Iris.

Open House Melbourne is the largest and longest-running Open House program in Australia and this will be its 12th year. In 2018, the program saw more than 72,000 visits across 220 buildings including many in the City of Stonnington.
