Over $19m of improvement works at Toorak Park and Victory Square will start soon after Council adopted a masterplan for this important site.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, says the works will reinforce the site as one of our much loved local parks and premier sports venue and provide much needed additional open space for Armadale and Prahran East residents.

“Toorak Park and Victory Square are an important space for recreation and relaxation for local residents and their pooches and sporting enthusiasts,” said Cr Stefanopoulos.

“Through extensive consultation with residents, those who frequent the park and sporting groups, we have been able to develop a masterplan that delivers for everyone.

“We’ll protect and retain mature trees; improve accessibility and create new paths and thus connectivity with nearby streets; and maintain our off-leash dog park at Victory Square.

“By purchasing neighbouring land and the future closure of Potter Street and Aubrey Street north of Fulton Street, we are also able to expand the available open space, something our residents regularly tell us they’d like more of.

“The Prahran Cricket Club, Prahran Football Club and Old Xaverians Football Club will all benefit from high quality facilities and grounds.

“This project has been in planning for some time, and now I can’t wait for work to get started,” added Cr Stefanopoulos.

Work will be rolled out in three stages, with the relocation of cricket practice nets and improvements at Victory Square scheduled first to ensure that the area is available as quickly as possible for residents and visitors. Signs around the site will inform visitors of upcoming works and local residents will be notified.
